Director, Plant Operations

Position Overview:
The Steris Finn-Aqua facility in Tuusula, Finland, is looking for a Director, Plant Operations to lead our manufacturing operations. This facility employs 170 professionals across various departments, and you will be responsible for overseeing customer project management, engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and new product development. In this role, you will drive the plant’s vision, manage overall production processes, ensure financial performance, and support employee success.
We seek an experienced, strategic leader who can inspire and motivate teams, delegate effectively, and represent the facility within the larger corporation. You should have strong communication and listening skills and enjoy collaborating with customers and your team. You lead by example and prioritize continuous learning and development.
Reporting and Key Responsibilities:
You will report to the Senior Director of Operations and Engineering, Life Sciences, at STERIS Corporation in Ohio. Your key responsibilities include:
- Leading customer project management, manufacturing, and product development at the Finn-Aqua plant
- Fostering a collaborative culture of accountability and cross-functional team spirit
- Achieving organizational KPI goals (quality, on-time delivery, production efficiency)
- Ensuring a safe work environment and promoting lean, continuous improvement practices
- Collaborating closely with STERIS’s international stakeholders (sales, service, marketing, etc.)
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in leadership within a global organization
- Proven experience in managing manufacturing operations
- Background in a regulated industry, preferably pharmaceuticals
- Expertise in change management, project engineering, and made-to-order manufacturing
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and Quality Management Systems
- Excellent verbal and written skills in both Finnish and English
