We are looking for an Engineering Director / Chief Technology Officer to lead our international Engineering and R&D organization as our current Engineering Director prepares to retire. You will be a member of the Marioff Leadership Team and report to the CEO.
Your role as Engineering Director / CTO: Connecting customer needs, technology and execution to drive Marioff growth
You will lead an organization of approximately 65 professionals located in Finland and Poland. You will ensure that technology, product and system development supports Marioff’s growth and delivers technically competitive, safe and approved solutions for our customers.
The existing strategy and technology roadmap will provide the foundation for your work. Your task will be to execute the roadmap, refine priorities as business needs evolve and ensure that the key value driving programs have the resources and support they need to succeed, on schedule and budget.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing the international Engineering and R&D organization in Finland and Poland, including its capabilities, leadership and collaboration.
- Leading New Product Development (NPD), Sustaining Engineering and Value Engineering, from system development and testing through approvals, with a strong focus on safety, quality and cost competitiveness.
- Prioritizing development investments, resources and programs based on customer needs and business value.
- Working closely with Commercial teams, Operations, customers and approval bodies.
- Reporting programs’ progress, technical outcomes, risks and investment proposals clearly to the CEO, Leadership Team colleagues and the Board.
The role combines strategic direction with practical leadership. You will support specialists in solving technical challenges and make clear decisions on program priorities and resource allocation.
The experience and leadership approach we are looking for
You have experience leading Engineering, Technology or R&D in an international industrial solutions business. You are familiar with an environment where a system combining several technologies forms part of a larger installation, and where testing, safety, quality and compliance are integral to development.
Your background may be in fire protection, marine, buildings, data centres, industrial systems or another demanding B2B systems business. Previous experience in fire protection is valuable, but leaders from other industries can also succeed in this role.
We are looking for evidence that you have:
- Delivered demanding development programs through testing and approvals to market launch.
- Translated business objectives and customer needs into clear development priorities and resource decisions.
- Led and developed international expert organizations and their capabilities.
- Improved delivery predictability while maintaining technical performance, safety, quality and cost control.
As a leader, you listen to experienced specialists, set clear objectives, and turn decisions into action. You combine strategic thinking with a pragmatic, solution-focused approach and can assess technology from both customer and business perspectives. You are collaborative and willing to learn beyond your own area of expertise, while being prepared to make difficult decisions when needed.
You hold a relevant engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification and communicate fluently in English.

Practical details
The role is based in Vantaa, Finland. Our Engineering organization operates in Vantaa, Finland and Gdańsk, Poland, and the position involves approximately 30 days of international travel per year. Travel may be more frequent at the beginning of the role.
Our preferred start date is in the first quarter of 2027, allowing sufficient overlap with the current Engineering Director for the leadership handover and to support a structured transfer of critical knowledge and responsibilities.
