A leading company in the industrial sector is on a mission to develop, commercialize, build, and operate small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) to provide carbon-free district heating. Their reactor is designed with inherent safety features, ensuring robust and reliable performance. The company has been recognized by major national and European initiatives for its innovative approach.

Currently, the reactor project is in the design phase and will transition into construction before 2030. The company is experiencing strong commercial interest across Europe, with many municipalities looking to decarbonize their district heating networks. Some cities have already committed to using nuclear energy for district heating, with calls for tender expected soon.

As Finland is at the forefront of carbon-free district heating, the company has decided to expand activities in Finland and is looking for a highly motivated General Manager for Finland to set up operations and make nuclear for district heating a reality.

The General Manager will be responsible for structuring and growing the project team in Finland, as well as developing the business and industrial activities for the company’s district heating SMR. They will play a key role in managing relationships with local and international stakeholders, including communications, and handling regulatory aspects (licensing).

The General Manager will report directly to the CEO of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Business Development:
    • Identify and develop business opportunities in Finland to increase the company’s visibility and impact on the SMR sector.
    • Maintain and grow strong relationships with clients and prospects, representing the company at meetings and events in Finland.
    • Develop and execute a business development strategy aligned with the company’s objectives.
  2. Licensing Process:
    • Represent the main point of contact towards regulatory authorities, providing the strategic vision to guide pre-licensing and licensing efforts performed by the teams.
  3. Communication:
    • Develop a local communication strategy to promote the project and engage stakeholders.
    • Represent the company to institutional, governmental, and industry stakeholders.
    • Define a strategy to build public acceptance for SMR for district heating, especially for the company’s solution.
  4. Team Structuring and Management:
    • Build and lead a dynamic team to support the development of the SMR project in Finland.
    • Ensure the team grows according to project needs while maintaining operational efficiency.
    • Implement processes and structures to optimize team performance.
  5. Industrial Supply Chain Management:
    • Build up the local supply chain.
    • Collaborate with local and international partners to ensure an efficient supply chain that meets quality requirements.
    • Work closely with the parent company team to ensure smooth integration of the supply chain and supplier qualification.
  6. Coordination between Parent Company and Subsidiary:
    • Act as the main liaison between the teams in the parent company and Finland, facilitating exchanges and cooperation.
    • Ensure effective communication between different teams to maintain strategic and operational alignment on the project.

Required Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in industrial project management, ideally in the energy or SMR sector.
  • Strong skills in team management and business development.
  • In-depth knowledge of Finnish culture and business practices.
  • Excellent communication in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in Finnish is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel frequently between the parent company and Finland.

  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset.
