LIGHTING DESIGN for heavy industry
The roots of I-Valo’s lighting design extend back to the famous Iittala Glass Factory, which is located just a stone’s throw away from I-Valo’s factory. Design is still an important part of I-Valo’s products and has increasingly been invested in.
In Finland, the development of industrial lighting for demanding conditions began in the 1970s, when the major Finnish steel factory Rautaruukki required lighting that was suited for a rough factory environment. Together with the customer, I-Valo developed its first horizontally burning industrial luminaire – and the rest is history. Some factories still use the I-Valo luminaires installed in the 1970s.
Today, I-Valo is part of the international Fagerhult Group, which operates actively with 13 brands in over 20 countries. The product range consists of high-quality and reliable LED lighting solutions for the paper and pulp industry, metal industry, mining industry and power plants. The I-Valo luminaires are manufactured in a production facility located in Iittala, Hämeenlinna. The majority of the produced products are exported all around the world.

Current Managing Director of I-Valo Oy will be heading to another position inside the Fagerhult Group and therefore we are looking for new
Managing Director
to lead the organization and to keep up and accelerate the growth of I-Valo Oy.
Responsibilities:
- Continue to develop and implement the long-term (sector-focused) strategy and vision, especially focused on the commercial front-end while building on past successes.
- Lead a strong and effective senior team.
- Further, attract and develop talent to ensure solid succession plans for the business leadership.
- Continue to grow the business through product innovation and strong commercial leadership.
- Continue to improve the commercial approach.
- Continue to develop I-Valo as an efficient and effective manufacturing center, both for the domestic market as well as for export.
- Be an active member of the Business Area management team, driving the BA strategy and collaboration within the BA and Group.
- Efficient reporting to the board and Group and managing external relationships.
Qualifications:
- Proven General Manager with strong commercial experience, ideally from within the industry sector and the building-products environment.
- A clear passion and track record in operational leadership with a focus on creating an outstanding customer experience through innovative product development, strong marketing combined with thought leadership on robust solutions.
- Demonstrated a strong commercial acumen and an ability to listen to and translate the trends in the market and in technology to stellar operational performance with strong cross-functional cooperation between all functions internally.
- Experienced in successfully working and delivering results in an international organization (I-Valo operates both in Finland/Sweden market and in export (specifically Germany and Austria)).
- Strong people leader with a coaching leadership style, who is passionate about developing people and has a strong ability to push down ownership and accountability to empower the organization.
- A good financial understanding and being capable of interpreting and managing the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow together with the Financial Director
- Excellent communication skills and enjoy working together with peers to find and leverages synergies across the Group
- Fluent in English and Finnish, German is a strong benefit.
