We are looking for an experienced Bid Engineering Manager to lead technical bid engineering work for public procurement projects of rail vehicles. You will grow our local bid engineering team to be responsible for technical concepting and preliminary design, and at the same time you contribute as a Main Bid Engineer in demanding bid projects. You will utilize Škoda Group’s global processes and influence the solutions we offer to our customers in Finland and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership: Expand the team by new recruitments, optimize the way of working and drive positive work spirit, taking care of people and work results.
- Technical Design: In addition to leadership tasks, act as the Main Bid Engineer, evaluate technical solutions vs. requirements, guide participating technical experts, and utilize modern design and simulation tools.
- Bid Process: Ensure the technical quality and fulfillment of customer needs in bids.
- Collaboration: Maintain close cooperation with local Sales department and Škoda Group’s design organization in the Czech Republic.
- Project Management: Prepare schedules, budgets, and work estimates for the design areas of bid projects.
We Expect From You
- A degree in engineering (e.g. mechanical design) or equivalent experience.
- At least 2-4 years of experience in leading positions such as a chief engineer or engineering manager, preferably related to rail vehicles or, to a complex mechanical installations or vehicles.
- Understanding of public procurement and experience in bid work.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to lead technical discussions in customer meetings.
- Technical expertise in mechanics and mechanisms
- Personal capacity to lead technical discussions also outside of your own specialty areas.
- Fluency in English; other language skills (e.g., Finnish or German) are an advantage.
